Johannes Brunonis (sometimes also Johann Brunonis ; † between 1406 and 1409 ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman. He was Chancellor of King Wenceslaus and from 1386 to 1394 as John III. Bishop of Cammin in Pomerania .

Johannes Brunonis probably came from a patrician family in Breslau. He became provost in Lebus and chancellor of the Bohemian and Roman-German king Wenceslaus.

After the previous bishop of Cammin, Johannes II. Wilcken , died in early 1386 before his episcopal ordination, Pope Urban VI appointed. Johannes Brunonis as the new bishop. Presumably King Wenceslas had spoken to the Pope for his chancellor. King Wenzel granted Johannes Brunonis the diocese of Cammin as an imperial fief on June 7, 1386 .

In Pomerania, however, the Camminer cathedral chapter had already elected Bogislaw VIII , a duke from the Pomeranian Greifenhaus and canon of the Camminer cathedral chapter, as the new bishop. Bogislaw VIII bowed to the decision of the Pope, so he did not become bishop. However, the Camminer cathedral chapter concluded an agreement with the brothers of Bogislaw VIII, the dukes Wartislaw VII and Barnim V , in 1387, according to which Bogislaw VIII took over the administration of the monastery area as administrator . Bogislaw VIII was also given the right to redeem pledged property and to keep it until the bishop compensated him. According to these regulations, Bogislaw VIII took possession of Massow , Pollnow , Arnhausen and Gülzow, among others .

Johannes Brunonis lacked the basis for his rule as bishop because of the administration exercised by Bogislaw VIII. He therefore stayed only briefly in his diocese and continued to serve as Chancellor of King Wenceslas in Prague. From 1387 to 1388 Borko, Archdeacon von Stolp, and from 1389 to 1394 Philipp von Helpte , provost of the Camminer cathedral chapter, worked for him as vicars general in the diocese of Cammin .

Johannes Brunonis renounced his episcopate in 1394. The Pope then transferred Johann von Oppeln from the diocese of Gniezno, where he had not been able to assert himself, to Cammin as the new bishop. The former bishop Johannes Brunonis died between 1406 and 1409.
