Johannes Buchwälder

Johannes Buchwälder , or Johann Buchwälder (born June 18, 1564 in Sprottau , Duchy of Glogau , † October 16, 1632 in Strehlen , Duchy of Schweidnitz ) was a Silesian pastor and author . He came from a middle-class family in Sprottau, his ancestor Hans Buchwälder held the office of mayor in 1526/1529 and 1538/1539.

Life

Johannes Buchwälder studied Protestant theology at the University of Wittenberg , where he obtained his master's degree in 1585 . In 1588 he became pastor in Rückersdorf near Sprottau, in 1591 a deacon in Freystadt and in 1601 pastor and dean in Goldberg , which belonged to the Duchy of Liegnitz . In 1612 he became a pastor and senior in Strehlen, where he campaigned for Calvinism from 1616 .

Between 1611 and 1626 he wrote numerous writings that dealt with his faith or his professional tasks. These included theoretical writings as well as practical ones such as sermons or funeral sermons .
