Johannes Debus

Johannes Debus (in official documents Johannes Debus X. ) (* December 24, 1879 in Buchenau ; † February 24, 1966 in Buchenau) was a German mayor and politician .

He was a member of the local council for the SPD from 1914 to 1933 and after 1948 and was also chairman or deputy chairman of the district council of the Biedenkopf district . As a trade union secretary of the SPD, he was arrested by the Gestapo in July 1944 in connection with the assassination attempt on Hitler and interrogated in the prison in Frankfurt am Main . After ten days, he was released because he had been found innocent.

In 1946 Debus belonged to the state assembly of Greater Hesse , which advised the constitution . For his services in the hinterland in the early postwar years he received in 1954 the Order of Merit of the Order and the award church elder of the community Buchenau, 1957, the Freiherr-vom-Stein-plaque and 1962, the honorary plaque of the circle Biedenkopf.
