action

Twelve-year-old Martin, who usually wears a blue baseball cap with the words “Champion” as his “trademark”, moves with his parents to the fictional town of Bellbach. On the first day, Martin involuntarily betrays a boy named Oliver while trying to steal cigarettes, which he promises to take revenge. The next day Martin visits his new school for the first time and is assigned to Oliver's class of all people. In this, Martin discovers a girl that he likes right away. After a short time, however, it turns out that Silke - that's her name - is Oliver's friend of all people. Nevertheless, she invites him to the "Riverpool", an old river pool and actually reserved only for her and Oliver as a secret meeting place. When Oliver shows up, the idyll is over, because the previously so beautiful day for Martin ends in a fight between him and Oliver.

Gradually, Martin gets to know Oliver better and understands that he is only so vicious and aggressive because he has problems with his parents at home. In the end, Martin, Silke and Oliver became good friends; the open end does not answer what will become of the love affair between Silke and Martin.

Reviews

“The film does something rare. He immerses himself very unspectacularly and very intensely into the emotional worlds of his young screen heroes. He does without any kind of clichés, pseudo-youthful language and staged effects. He tells us about the reality of the children, their wishes and worries in everyday life, in a credible way and without any judgment.

“The film is full to the brim with problems like heartache, alcoholism and marital quarrels, with the model family situations coming straight out of the box. At the open end, everything remains in the balance between childhood and growing up, but that doesn't fit at all with the socio-educational rest, which relies on unambiguity. Cinema according to scheme F. "

- Manfred Hobsch in Tagesspiegel from April 24, 2008

“With fast-paced action or superficial action, 'Blöde Mütze!' do not score. The viewer is still tied up, because the roller coaster ride of the relationship between the main characters creates a lot of inner tension. Director Johannes Schmid wrote the novel 'Blöde Mütze!' lovingly adapted for the cinema by his brother Thomas Schmid. He can rely on three excellent young actors - Johann Hillmann, Konrad Baumann and Lea Eisleb. "

- Andrea Huber in the Berliner Morgenpost on April 24, 2008

"Sympathetic, natural and unpretentiously told and acted summer film about friendship and first love, which playfully penetrates a substance relevant for children and is about respect and understanding."

Awards

  • The film was awarded the title “Particularly valuable” by the Wiesbaden Film Evaluation Office . The accompanying report states: “The credible and realistic film is extremely pleasant to deal with its characters, avoids obvious clichés and cheap effects, and engages in reality as children experience it. The story abstains from any black and white painting and lets the children stand by their parents who are not entirely flawless. ,Stupid hat!' is all-round successful cinema entertainment with depth, in which parents can also find pleasure and understanding for the moods of their offspring. "

In addition, he received the screenplay prize "CHILDREN TIGER 2008", which every year of VISION KINO and KI.KA is awarded.
