Michael Bertl

Michael Bertl (born September 8, 1963 in Weilheim in Upper Bavaria ) is a German cameraman and screenwriter .

Michael Bertl studied architecture in Munich and Berlin. He then graduated from 1986 to 1992 as a cameraman at the German Film and Television Academy (dffb) in Berlin. Since the beginning of the 1990s he has been working as a creative cameraman ( Director of photography ) for cinema and television. From 1997 Bertl had lectureships at several film schools, since 2011 he has been head of the image design / camera department at the dffb.

In 2016 his first novel "Three for Moscow" was published by Berlin Verlag (Pieper Verlag)

Nominations

Bertl was nominated for the Adolf Grimme Prize in 1998 for the film comedy Bandagistenglück . In 2014 he was nominated for the German Film Prize in the category Best Image Creation for his camera work in the film drama Mr. Morgan's Last Love .
