My family kills me! is a comedy film by director Christiane Balthasar and producer Oliver Berben from 2010.
action
Helen, housewife and mother, has the feeling that she is slowly getting old. At the hairdresser's, the conversation only revolves around orange peel and waist size, and she also suspects that her husband has entered into a relationship with a younger woman. The situation is exacerbated when her mother shows the first signs of dementia and no longer recognizes her daughter. When her mother also had a stroke and Helen had to look after her, she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown .
The film sheds light on the day-to-day events of a typical sandwich generation , i.e. people between the ages of 40 and 60 who have sick parents and almost grown children.

The film premiered on September 29, 2010 as part of the Hamburg Film Festival. It was first seen on television on January 31, 2011.

The ZDF checked the film for surreptitious advertising and found in retrospect that Volkswagen brand cars were comparatively often in the field of view. When asked, the producer Oliver Berben replied that he had forgotten to mention that Volkswagen had made the vehicles available for the film production. The producer should have announced this fact in advance and had to obtain the appropriate approval from ZDF.
