Johannes Höffner

Willibald Fürchtegott Johannes Höffner (born March 18, 1868 in Dramburg , † October 9, 1929 in Bomsdorf , district of Guben ) was a German writer and magazine publisher . From 1907 he published the popular family paperDaheim ”.

Live and act

Höffner was the son of the high school teacher Willibald Höffner and his wife Hulda, geb. Block. He attended high schools in his hometown of Dramburg and in Stolp . He then studied theology, history and art history at the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin and at the University of Halle . From 1896 he worked as an assistant preacher, first in Bromberg and then in Gniezno . In 1899 he got the job of a penitentiary pastor in Cottbus .

In 1907 he left the church service and worked until 1921 as editor of the popular family paper " Daheim ". In addition, he was co-editor of “ Velhagen & Klasings MONTHS ”. He published short stories , novels and writings on the history of literature.

In 1897 Höffner married Klara Gutsche, who later wrote as a writer under the name Klara Hofer . The marriage resulted in a daughter and a son, General Hans Höffner (* 1901; † 1987).
