Johannes Hendrik van den Broek (born October 4, 1898 in Rotterdam , † September 6, 1978 in The Hague ) was a Dutch architect ; he was instrumental in the reconstruction of Rotterdam.

Johannes Hendrik van den Broek was the son of Leendert van den Broek, carpenter and building contractor, and Maria Adriana Jongeneel. After studying at the Technical University of Delft , from which he graduated in 1924, Hendrik van den Broek ran his own office in Rotterdam from 1927 to 1937. From 1937 to 1948 he ran a joint office with JA Brinkman and Jacob Bakema , with whom he a. a. designed the town hall with the attached Glaskasten sculpture museum .

After the German bombing of Rotterdam on May 14, 1940 and again after the end of the German occupation in May 1945, Van den Broek was intensively involved as an architect in the reconstruction of the Netherlands, especially Rotterdam. From 1947 he was also a professor at the TU Delft.

In 1972 van den Broek withdrew from the architectural office and gradually withdrew from social life. Around 1975 van den Broek and his wife sold their house and moved from Rotterdam to a nursing home in Wassenaar . Van den Broek died in a hospital in The Hague at the age of 79.

Johannes Hendrik van den Broek married Sophia Jacoba Boosman (1900-2000) on December 20, 1923, and this marriage resulted in a daughter.
