Johannes Jörin

Johannes Jörin (born March 12, 1787 in Reigoldswil , † November 1, 1866 in Waldenburg ) was a Swiss politician .

Life

From 1808 to 1817 Jörin was the landlord in Reigoldswil , then in Waldenburg. In the winter of 1830/1831 he sided with those who demanded equality of rights for the Basel citizens . In January 1831 he was a member of the illegal provisional government of Basel . The new half-canton of Basel-Country, he was in the years 1832, 1838, 1850, 1862 and 1863 Constitutional Council , from 1832 to 1834 and 1860 District and 1834-1859 Councilor . There he held the office of police and military, then internal affairs. From 1860 to 1863 he was chief judge .

Jörin was a representative of the so-called party of order, but in 1862 he participated in Christoph Rolle's democratic movement .
