Johannes King (born August 27, 1963 in Schramberg ) is a German chef .

Career

King grew up with nine siblings on their parents' farm in the Black Forest. He made his studies from 1979 to 1982 at the Ringhotel "Johanniterbad" in Rottweil and moved in 1983 to the restaurant Franz Keller at Franz Keller in Cologne. In 1984 the Oberlaa confectionery in Vienna followed. In 1985 he started at the Restaurant Maitre with Henry Levy in Berlin. Johannes King stayed in Berlin, but in 1986 switched to the restaurant “Zum Hugenotten” (today “Hugo's”) in the Hotel Intercontinental. In 1987 he went on further training trips to various top French chefs, including Chapel, Maximin, Troisgros, Girardet, Passard, Robuchon, Senderen, Roux, Blanc and Taillevent, and stayed in Burgundy in 1988 , at the Hotel de la Poste , Saulieu .

In 1989 he returned to Berlin as head chef for around ten years at the Grand Slam restaurant , where he was awarded the first Michelin star in 1993. In 1998 he was Group kitchen director at Dorint AG consultant.

King has been the host at the Dorint Söl'ring Hof in Rantum on Sylt since 2000 , where he cooks together with chef Jan-Philipp Berner in his 2-star restaurant. In 2004 he received his second Michelin star. It was awarded 17 points in the Gault Millau .

In addition, in 2013 Johannes King and his wife Selina Müller opened the gourmet shop in Keitum on Sylt, which sells delicacies.
