Johannes Lechermann SDB (born September 23, 1879 in Lobsing ; † November 8, 1948 in Benediktbeuern ) was a German Salesian of Don Bosco and moral theologian .

The son of simple and deeply religious parents was a gifted student, but worked on the home estate until he was 20, and was finally called up for military service. During this time he woke up to become a religious and in 1902 he attended the late vocational seminary of the Salesians of Don Bosco in Penango , Italy. In 1905 he entered the novitiate in Lombriasco . After taking his first vows the following year, he studied philosophy in the Salesian Studentat in Ivrea and in 1908 worked as a teacher and prefect of studies in Penango. In 1909 he began to study theology in Foglizzo . He was ordained a priest on July 21, 1913. He received his doctorate in theology from the University of Turin in 1913 . After another year as assistant to the novices, he worked as a religion teacher and catechist in Vienna, for a short time as pastor of Vienna-Stadlau. In 1919 he was appointed director of the Unterwaltersdorf branch . In the following year he was appointed director of the newly opened novitiate in Ensdorf in the Upper Palatinate. In 1922 he went to Burghausen to take over from the seriously ill director Georg Ring . In Ensdorf and Burghausen he developed a rich literary activity. After six years in Burghausen, he returned to Ensdorf as director for a year, and in 1930 reapplied as director in Burghausen. But once again he should rush to the aid of Father Ring, who after a year in the new studentate in Benediktbeuern Monastery had to give up again due to illness. Lechermann became his successor and remained director of Benediktbeuern until 1938.

After almost twenty years as a director with frequent changes, he worked at the Philosophical-Theological University of Benediktbeuern as a lecturer in moral theology .
