Johannes Mayr (psychologist)

Johannes Mayr (* 1948 in Steyr ) is an Austrian psychologist and retired professor for quality development and quality assurance in education.

Life

After graduating from high school , Mayr studied at the Pedagogical Academy of the Diocese of Linz to teach at elementary schools . He taught for several years at elementary and secondary schools and earned his doctorate in psychology at the University of Vienna . Afterwards he was a professor at the PA of the Diocese of Linz and worked as a clinical psychologist in a specialist medical practice. At times he was a lecturer at universities in Innsbruck , Klagenfurt , Krems and Linz . He completed his habilitation in educational psychology at the University of Lüneburg . From 2006 to 2014 he was a professor at the Institute for Teaching and School Development at the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt .

Focus

Mayr's work focuses on the one hand on teaching research in the areas of school climate, class management, individualization and differentiation as well as performance assessment, on the other hand research on training and further education as well as career advice for teachers.

His current projects include research and development work on the subject of class management and participation in the study Development of Motivation and Knowledge in Teacher Education (EMW). Mayr is also the coordinator of the international project “ Career Counseling for Teachers ” (CCT). As part of this project, materials for career advice for prospective students, students and teaching staff will be developed and made available on the Internet.
