Johannes Mooyer
Johannes Mooyer (born October 3, 1830 in Hamburg , † October 22, 1903 in London ) was consul for the Hanseatic cities of Hamburg, Bremen and Lübeck in Singapore . He made the first official contacts between a German state and Siam , today's Thailand .
Life
Mooyer and, accompanied by his wife, went to Singapore in autumn 1856, where he joined the trading company Behn, Meyer & Co. (today Behn Meyer Holding AG ) for Theodor August Behn on January 1, 1857 . Arnold Otto Meyer left Singapore on February 22, 1857 to take over Behn's duties in the Hamburg business; In addition, on June 1, 1857, he founded the successful company "Arnold Otto Meyer".
After his explorations at Krom Phra Klang , a Hanseatic consulate was opened in Bangkok in October 1858 , which was initially led by Theodor Thies and later by Paul Pickenpack .
From 1867 to 1871 Mooyer was a member of the Hamburg citizenship .
Mooyer came from an old Hamburg merchant family and had been married to Anna Christiane Vorwerk (* 1834; † 1916), a daughter of Georg Friedrich Vorwerk , with whom he had a son (Johannes Vorwerk-Mooyer, * December 22nd, * December 22 , 1856) 1857) had.
