Johannes Obergethmann

Johannes Obergethmann (born December 2, 1862 in Hattingen , † June 22, 1921 in Berlin ) was a German railway engineer and university professor .

Life

Johannes Obergethmann studied mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University . In the summer semester of 1882 he became a member of the Delta Academic Association, later the Corps Delta. After completing his studies, he began a legal clerkship in the Prussian railway administration as a government construction manager. In 1891, after passing the second state examination, he was appointed government builder ( assessor ).

In 1902 Obergethmann was offered a chair in mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University. In 1906 he was appointed full professor for railway machinery, operating and signaling at the Technical University of Charlottenburg . In the academic year 1912/1913 he was head of the mechanical engineering department.

Obergethmann worked in particular in the fields of locomotive construction and railroad vehicles.
