Johannes Petermann

Johannes Petermann (born February 25, 1886 in Sendenhorst ; † June 22, 1961 in Osnabrück ) was a German politician ( center , CDU ). From April to October 1945 he was Lord Mayor of the City of Osnabrück and from 1945 to 1951 Regional President of the Osnabrück administrative district .

Life

Petermann studied law and economics at the universities in Freiburg , Berlin , Munich and Münster from 1905 to 1908 . In 1911 he became a doctor of law doctorate . After passing the second state law examination in 1912, he worked as a legal advisor at the city administration in Dortmund . From 1915 to 1918 he took part in the First World War as a soldier , most recently as a battalion adjutant.

Petermann was head of the welfare office in Gladbeck from March 1919 and was elected Justice Senator for the city of Osnabrück in July 1919. In 1926 he was appointed city counsel and deputy mayor of Osnabrück. For the Center Party, he was also a member of the Hanover Provincial Parliament from November 1929 to 1932 . In 1938 he left the public service and switched to the private sector. With the beginning of the Second World War he was conscripted and commissioned again with urban tasks.

In April 1945, Petermann was appointed Lord Mayor of Osnabrück by the British military administration. In October 1945, he was appointed regional president of the Osnabrück administrative district.
