Johannes Schilling (theologian)

Johannes Schilling (born March 5, 1951 in Melsungen ) is a German Protestant church historian .

Life

From 1971 he studied musicology, German, Latin philology of the Middle Ages and Protestant theology at the Universities of Göttingen , Zurich , Vienna and Munich as a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation . After graduation in 1980 as a doctor of philosophy doctorate in 1986 for a doctor of theology and habilitation in 1990 for church history he taught since 1993 as Professor (4 C) for the church and dogma history and director of the Institute of Church History and Church Archeology, Faculty of Theology Christian Albrechts University in Kiel. From 1999 to 2002 he was Vice Rector of the University of Kiel.

He is President of the Luther Society and a full member of the Academy of Sciences in Hamburg .
