Johannes Stadler

Johannes Stadler (born April 8, 1797 in Flawil ; † August 28, 1849 in St. Gallen ) was a Swiss lawyer and politician . He was St. Gallen's Grand Councilor , Government Councilor , Landammann and Minister of the Diet .

Life

Born the son of a merchant, Stadler studied law in Tübingen and Heidelberg . During his studies he joined the boys' association in Tübingen. In 1822 he was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD . After completing his studies, he worked as a lawyer in St. Gallen and became a criminal examiner in 1825 and an appeal judge in 1828.

From 1826 to 1849 he was a councilor and from 1831 to 1849 government councilor in the departments of justice, home affairs, foreign affairs and police. From 1832 to 1848 he was Landammann of the Canton of St. Gallen. In 1826, 1828, 1836 and 1838 he was delegate to the Diet .
