Johannes Szadowski

Johannes Szadowski (born May 12, 1834 in Ziegelscheune, Meseritz district ; † August 10, 1914 in Königsberg i. Pr. ) Was a German Catholic theologian in East Prussia .

Life

After his ordination , Szadowski was a clergyman in Wartenburg and Braunsberg . In the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71 he took part as a division pastor. After the war he was again chaplain in Braunsberg and Willenberg. In 1889 he became provost of the provost church (Königsberg) . During his 25 years in office he established four new churches. In 1898 the Tuisconia Association made him an honorary member of the Cartell Association of German Catholic Student Associations. During the First World War he received the Iron Cross 1st Class, which is very rare for a pastor . In 1909 he becamePapal house prelate and 1911 Warmian honorary canon . The Crown of Prussia awarded him the Order of the Red Eagle (which is also very rare for a pastor) . Szadowski died at the age of 80.
