Johannes Thabor

Johannes Thabor (born October 3, 1878 in Oberrod , † August 27, 1949 in Krefeld ) was a German social democratic politician.

Thabor was a bricklayer and last worked in this profession as a foreman until 1908 . He originally came from the Catholic youth movement, but joined the free trade unions in 1897 and the SPD in 1901. A year later he was chairman of the party in Krefeld and chairman of the supervisory board of the Lower Rhine consumer association . Between 1903 and 1904 Thabor was chairman of the trade union cartel in Cologne and between 1905 and 1908 a board member of the SPD in Solingen . From 1908 to 1924 he was first chairman of the bricklayers 'association and then of the construction workers' association in Krefeld. He was then managing director of the construction works in Krefeld until 1927. He then worked there as a representative of the Berlin Heimbau-Beamtensiedlungsgenossenschaft.

From 1908 to 1918 Thabor was again chairman of the SPD in Krefeld. During the November Revolution he was a member of the Workers 'and Soldiers' Council there . He also took part in the two Reich Council Congresses in 1918/19 . From 1923 to 1927 he was again chairman of the SPD in Krefeld.

Thabor was elected a member of the Weimar National Assembly in 1919 and was a member of the Reichstag until November 1932 . After the beginning of the National Socialist rule he was arrested and sentenced to eight months in prison in July 1933. He was later in " protective custody " several times .

After the Second World War , Thabor became involved again in the SPD. Since 1945 he was a member of the district council of Kempen / Krefeld and a member of the city council of St. Toenis . He was also a member of the two appointed state parliaments of North Rhine-Westphalia in 1946 and 1947 . Shortly before his death, Thabor ran for the Bundestag in 1949 .
