Johannes Cornelis van Hoolwerff (born April 13, 1878 in Hoorn , † August 2, 1962 in Heemstede ) was a Dutch sailor .

successes

Johannes van Hoolwerff won the silver medal in the 8-meter class at the Olympic Games in Amsterdam in 1928 . He was the skipper of Hollandia , which achieved two victories in seven races, finishing second behind the French boat L'Aile VI . The Swedes also came first twice with the Sylvia and, like the Hollandia, also reached second place twice, but ultimately the number of third places was decisive for the placement, which was three times for the Hollandia and only once for the Sylvia . The Hollandia crew included Lambertus Doedes , Hendrik Kersken , Cornelis van Staveren , Gerard de Vries Lentsch and Maarten de Wit .
