successes

Maarten de Wit won the silver medal in the 8-meter class at the Olympic Games in Amsterdam in 1928 . He was a crew member of Hollandia , which had two victories in seven races, finishing second behind the French boat L'Aile VI . The Swedes also came first twice with the Sylvia and, like the Hollandia, also reached second place twice, but ultimately the number of third places was decisive for the placement, which was three times for the Hollandia and only once for the Sylvia . The Hollandia crew also included Lambertus Doedes , Hendrik Kersken , Gerard de Vries Lentsch and Cornelis van Staveren, as well as skipper Johannes van Hoolwerff .

His son Simon de Wit took part in the rowing games in Berlin in 1936 .
