successes

Gerard de Vries Lentsch won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Amsterdam in 1928 in the 8-meter class. He was a crew member of Hollandia , which had two victories in seven races, finishing second behind the French boat L'Aile VI . The Swedes also came first twice with the Sylvia and, like the Hollandia, also reached second place twice, but ultimately the number of third places was decisive for the placement, which was three times for the Hollandia and only once for the Sylvia . The Hollandia crew also included Lambertus Doedes , Hendrik Kersken , Cornelis van Staveren and Maarten de Wit as well as skipper Johannes van Hoolwerff .

There were other Olympic sailors in his family. His brother Willem de Vries Lentsch won the bronze medal in the star boat in 1936 , his nephew Wim de Vries Lentsch took part in the Olympic sailing regattas in 1948 and 1952 .
