The Johanniskirche in Arenshorst , a village in the municipality of Bohmte , is the parish church of the Evangelical Lutheran parish Arenshorst, which belongs to the parish of Bramsche of the Evangelical Lutheran regional church of Hanover .

History and architecture

Interior

The church goes back to the chapel of the neighboring moated castle Gut Arenshorst , first mentioned in 1353 or 1354 .

After the introduction of the Reformation , the church building was renewed in 1623 and the rectangular hall of the half-timbered building that still exists today was built. This was expanded to the west in 1774 and to the south and north in the first half of the 19th century. 1875 was a neo-Gothic brick building - church tower on a design Conrad Wilhelm Hase's grown one roof skylights replaced.

The Johanniskirche, which was elevated to a parish church in 1815, was extensively renovated inside and out in 1970.

Interior

The oldest work of art preserved in the church is the altar cross from the first half of the 14th century, which is comparable to the crucifixion group in the Laurentiuskirche in Schledehausen . The pulpit dating back to 1640 were later Rococo - ornaments attached. At the same time it was fitted with a pulpit clock . The altar and organ front are from the end of the 18th century.
