John Brenner (athlete)

John Brenner (born January 4, 1961 ) is a former American athlete who was particularly successful in the shot put .

In 1984 Brenner won the NCAA championships in shot put and discus throwing for the University of California . In 1986 and 1987 he was the American champion in the shot put.

At the World Athletics Championships in Rome in 1987 , Brenner won the bronze medal in the shot put with a width of 21.75 m, behind the Swiss Werner Günthör (22.23 m) and the Italian Alessandro Andrei (21.88 m). In the discus throw, however, he was eliminated in the qualifying round.

John Brenner is 1.92 m tall and had a competition weight of 127 kg.
