The Bistum Jasikan ( lat. : Dioecesis Iasikanensis ) is an in Ghana preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Jasikan .

history

The diocese of Jasikan was established on December 19, 1994 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Progrediens from cession of the diocese of Keta-Ho and subordinated to the archbishopric of Accra as a suffragan diocese. First Bishop was Gabriel Akwasi Abiabo Mante .

Diocese structure

The region in which the diocese is located is infrastructurally neglected, so when the diocese was founded there was no bishop's house, no telephone and no electricity. With the support of the aid organizations Missio , Misereor , Kirche in Not and Kindermissionswerk , the infrastructure was significantly improved. The diocese also maintains partnerships with the German-speaking Catholic pastoral care office Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur and the Plankstetten monastery .
