John Buchanan (born January 1, 1884 in Rhu , † November 25, 1943 ibid) was a British sailor from Scotland .

John Buchanan, of the Royal Clyde Yacht Club sailed, was in 1908 in London at the Olympic Games in the 12-meter class Olympic champion . In the regatta held on the Firth of Clyde in Scotland , only the two British boats Hera and Mouchette competed against each other in two races. The Hera , to whose crew Buchanan belonged, won both races, so that in addition to Buchanan and skipper Thomas Glen-Coats , the other crew members John Aspin , James Bunten , David Dunlop , Arthur Downes , John Downes , John Mackenzie , Albert Martin and Gerald Tait die Gold medal received. In 1936, Buchanan won the Tarbert Cup in his 8-meter yacht Falcon .
He was a farmer by profession .
