John Bush (musician)
John Bush (born August 24, 1963 in Los Angeles ) is an American singer . He is the lead singer and front man of the band Armored Saint . In the meantime Bush was active in the band Anthrax .
Life
Bush was one of the founding members of the band Armored Saint in 1982, who released five studio albums with Bush as singer. In 1983 the band Metallica played for the first time as opening act for Armored Saint. Metallica were enthusiastic about Bush's performances and tried to win him over to their band, especially since Metallica singer James Hetfield was unsure of his own vocal performances. Before Metallica recorded their debut album Kill 'Em All , the band Bush offered the job as singer. Bush waived, however, as he did not want to abandon his Armored Saint bandmates, with whom he grew up. Even before the recordings for the second Metallica album Ride the Lightning , Metallica tried in vain to persuade Bush to change bands.
“Who knows if Metallica would ever have been so successful with me as a singer. In any case, I can't imagine Ride the Lightning with John Bush vocals. "
In 1992 Armored Saint broke up after John Bush accepted Anthrax's offer to succeed Joey Belladonna . With Anthrax, Bush recorded four studio albums and the compilation The Greater of Two Evils , in which Bush sang some new songs from the Belladonna era. Bush's first work with anthrax, Sound of White Noise , was awarded a gold record in the United States . In 2000 there was a reunion of Armored Saint, who released a new studio album with Revelation .
Five years later, Anthrax reunited in the cast of the album Among the Living with Joey Belladonna. After Belladonna's departure in 2007, Bush was supposed to return, but he refused. When Belladonna's successor Dan Nelson left the band in 2009, Bush returned for a few festival appearances. A year later, Bush appeared as a guest singer on the self-titled album of the German instrumental rock band Long Distance Calling and sang the song The Four Horsemen at a Metallica concert in December 2011 .
John Bush is married with a son and a daughter. In the late 2000s, Bush's voice could be heard in commercials for the fast food chain Burger King .
