Joey Vera (born April 24, 1963 ) is an American bass player and music producer . Vera became known as the bass player for the bands Armored Saint and Fates Warning . In addition, he was and is involved in various other projects.

Career

Joey Vera began his musical career in 1982 with the band Armored Saint, with whom he released a total of six studio albums. In the meantime, Vera received the offer in 1986 to succeed the fatally injured Cliff Burton at Metallica . Vera declined the offer, however. In 1992 Armored Saint broke up after singer John Bush switched to Anthrax . Vera started a solo career and released his solo album A Thousand Faces in 1994 , for which he also took over the vocals. The band played a few concerts, including in the opening act for Korn . In 1996, Joey joined Vera Fates Warning, where he replaced Joe DiBiase and is a member to this day. With A Chinese Firedrill he started another solo project in 2007.

In addition to his main bands, Vera was involved in numerous other music projects and bands, including Arch / Matheos , Chroma Key , Engine , OSI , Seven Witches and Tribe After Tribe . He also played on the solo album of the original Fates Warning singer John Arch . From 2004 to 2005 Joey Vera was a member of the band Anthrax, where he replaced Frank Bello . Vera did not record an album with Anthrax. Joey Vera is currently a member of the band Motor Sister , where he plays with Scott Ian (Anthrax), Pearl Aday (stepdaughter of Meat Loaf ) and John Tempesta ( The Cult ), among others .

Joey Vera has also been active as a music producer and sound engineer since 1996 and has worked with bands such as Anthrax, Mother Superior , Steel Prophet , DC4 , but also with pop bands such as the Plain White T’s .
