Mother Superior was an American blues rock / hard rock band from Los Angeles . The band existed from 1993 to 2011 and have released eight studio albums. Their music was a mixture of blues, soul and American classic rock .

history

The band was founded in 1993 by singer and guitarist Jim Wilson , bassist Marcus Blake and drummer Jason Mackenroth. In the same year the band was founded, the demo Ride in a Row was released, which brought the band a contract with Top Beat Records. From 1996 to 1998 Mother Superior released the studio albums The Heavy Soul Experience , Kaleidescope and Deep every year . The latter was produced by Henry Rollins , who promptly offered the three musicians to join his band Rollins Band . After two albums with the Rollins Band, the fourth, self-titled Mother Superior album followed in 2004.

Their fifth and sixth studio albums Sin and 13 Violets, respectively, from 2002 and 2004 were produced by MC5 guitarist Wayne Kramer . Jason Mackenroth left the band a short time later and was replaced by Matt Tecu. With Tecu, the band recorded the studio albums Moanin and Three Headed Dog before the compilation Grande was released in 2008 , which includes some new songs as well as rare live recordings and previously unreleased songs. As of 2004, the three musicians still belonged to the band Pearl around the singer Pearl Aday . Mother Superior finally broke up in 2011.
