Sir John Chichester, 5th Baronet (before March 26, 1721 , † December 18, 1784 in London ) was a British nobleman .

John Chichester came from a line of the Chichester family , an old family of gentry from Devon . He was the eldest son of Sir John Chichester, 4th Baronet and his wife Anne Leigh . He was baptized on March 26, 1721 in Shirwell near Barnstaple . From April 13, 1739 he studied at Balliol College , Oxford . When his father died in September 1740, he inherited the title Baronet , of Raleigh in the County of Devon, created in 1641 in the Baronetage of England , as well as the family's estates, including Youlston Park near Barnstaple. He had major renovations and redesigns made in the Youlston manor house. He served as High Sheriff of Devon from 1753 to 1754 .

Before 1752 Chichester had married Frances Chudleigh , daughter of Sir George Chudleigh, 4th Baronet and his wife Frances Davie . With her he had a son:

He was buried in Ashton near Exeter . Since he had left no will, his property was placed under state administration until February 1785, before his son could take over the inheritance.
