John Crombez (2015)

John Crombez (born September 19, 1973 in Ostend ) is a Belgian politician of the Socialist Partij Anders (sp.a). From 2011 to 2014 he was State Secretary for Combating Social and Tax Fraud in the Di Rupo federal government and has been the party chairman of the sp.a since June 13, 2015. At the local level, Crombez is a councilor in Ostend.

Life

John Crombez studied economics at Ghent University and statistical science at Neuchâtel University . In 2001 he received his PhD in Economics from the University of Ghent. Initially, he worked as a research assistant in the finance group at Ghent University. Crombez has been a lecturer since 2001.

Crombez made his entry into politics while still a student. It was through John Combez's final work on combating fraud that sp.a politicians Freddy Willockx and Johan Vande Lanotte became aware of him. In 2003 he was enlisted as an advisor to the Cabinet of Ministers of Vande Lanotte and was promoted to Head of Cabinet of the Flemish Minister Freya Van den Bossche (sp.a) in 2005 .

In active politics John Crombez 2009 came when he sp.a for the Flemish Parliament , while the Community Senator was chosen. In 2011 Crombez became State Secretary for Combating Social and Tax Fraud in the federal government under Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo ( PS ). In this capacity, he will present a comprehensive anti-fraud action plan in 2012.

In the internal party election in 2015, Crombez defeated the outgoing chairman Bruno Tobback (sp.a). He assumed the presidency on June 13, 2015.
