John E. Exner

John Ernest Exner, Jr. (born April 18, 1929 in Syracuse , New York , † February 20, 2006 ) was an American psychologist .

Exner received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Trinity University, Texas and a PhD in clinical psychology from Cornell University in 1958. From 1968 to 1969, he headed the Office of Selection for the East Asia , Pacific , North Africa , and Middle regions East and South Asia of the United States Peace Corps . From 1969 to 1979 he worked at Long Island University as professor and head of clinical training . In 1984 he retired from the Faculty of Long Island University.

John E. Exner's name is closely related to his work on standardizing the interpretations of the Rorschach test . This is an inkblot shape interpretation experiment, which should provide information about the personality of the test person. Exner developed a standard for the interpretation and interpretation of the results, which helped the Rorschach test to be recognized as a psychometric instrument.

Exner was the executive director of Rorschach Workshops, which are held for educational purposes in Asheville , North Carolina .

In 1980, John E. Exner, Jr. received the Bruno Klopfer Award for his life's work .
