John FW Rogers

John FW Rogers (born April 15, 1956 in Seneca Falls , New York ) is an American business manager and government official who was Under Secretary of State for Management between 1991 and 1993 and is currently Chief of Staff and Partner of Goldman Sachs .

Life

After attending school, Rogers worked between 1974 and 1977 as assistant to the director of public relations of the Executive Office of the President of the United States in the White House and also completed a degree at George Washington University , which he obtained in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) completed. In 1977 he moved to the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), a conservative think tank , and was initially an editor for their journal Public Opinion and then from 1979 to 1981 administrative assistant to the President of the AEI. He then returned to the White House and served as director of the administrative office between 1981 and 1985.

In 1985, Rogers became Assistant Secretary for Management, Head of Administration at the Treasury Department, and remained in that government post until 1987. After serving as Executive Vice President of Operations for the Oliver Carr Company from 1988 to 1991 , he was appointed on October 9, 1991 from US President George HW Bush to Under Secretary of State for Management and was one of the closest advisers to Secretary of State James Baker in this capacity until January 19, 1993 .

After retiring from government service, Rogers joined the investment banking and securities trading company Goldman Sachs in 1994, where he has been chief of staff since 1994 and one of its partners since 2000. In that capacity, he was a close advisor to the chief executives of Goldman Sachs Jon Corzine and then to Henry Paulson . In addition, he was involved in numerous organizations such as trustee of the US Capitol Historical Society , the National Building Museum and the Goldman Sachs Foundation as well as a board member of the International Republican Institute (IRI) and the American Museum of Natural History . He was also Treasurer of the Ronald Reagan Foundation and Senior Fellow of the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy at Rice University .
