Han Dingxiang

Han Ding Xiang ( Chinese  韓鼎祥  /  韩鼎祥 , Pinyin Hán Dǐngxiáng * 17th May 1937 ; † 9. September 2007 ) was Chinese Roman Catholic underground - bishop of Yongnian (永年县/永年縣) in the province of Hebei .

Life

Han Dingxiang was ordained a priest in 1986 and episcopal ordination in 1989 .

He has been arrested, detained or placed under house arrest by the Chinese government a total of 11 times in his life. From 1960 to 1979 he was in a labor camp ; he has spent a total of 35 years of his life in custody or in custody. He was last placed under arrest in 1999 while accompanying some nuns on a retreat in Shijiazhuang . Since 2005 he has been held in an undisclosed location.

Han Dingxiang allegedly died of complications from lung cancer in a hospital. Immediately after Hans death, government authorities ordered the cremation of the body, and within a few hours the ashes were buried in a public cemetery, according to the US Cardinal Kung Foundation. The foundation asked the Vatican to open an official investigation.
