John Henry Willcox

John Henry Willcox (* 1827 in Savannah , Georgia , † 1875 in Boston , Massachusetts ) was an American composer.

Willcox trained as a church musician at Trinity College in Hartford ( Connecticut ) and then worked as an organist in Boston. He was one of the first Catholic church musicians to be trained in the USA, was considered an exceptional organ improviser and was also a specialist in organ building.

A large number of masses , proprien and other church music works have come down from him.
