John Riley Maxwell (born July 16, 1871 in Olena , Illinois , † June 3, 1906 in Keokuk , Iowa ) was an American golfer .
biography
John Maxwell, who had studied medicine in Illinois , played golf at Keokuk Country Club . At the 1904 Olympic Games in St. Louis , he was able to win the silver medal in a team competition with the Trans Mississippi Golf Association . Since he had to return to his doctor's office, he did not take part in the individual competition. Maxwell was Professor of Anatomy and Surgery and one of the specialists in proctology at Keokuk Medical College . In 1906 he died of kidney failure at the age of 34.
