John McGovern (actor)

John McGovern (born February 22, 1902 in Providence , Rhode Island , † July 28, 1985 in Clinton , Connecticut ) was an American actor .

Life

McGovern was active on Broadway as a stage actor from 1922 . From 1949 onwards he turned to TV productions and stopped appearing on Broadway in 1958. In the late 1950s he became known as a film actor, including in The Birds , His name was Parrish , Not with me, gentlemen and a fever in my blood .

McGovern was married to actress Peggy Allenby (1896-1966) since 1932 . The couple had two children.
