John Merriman (athlete)

John Merriman ( John Linden Merriman; born June 27, 1936 in Watford , † September 30, 1999 in Highworth ) was a British long-distance runner .

In 1958 he won silver over six miles for Wales starting at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff and was sixth over three miles. At the European Athletics Championships in Stockholm he came eighth over 10,000 m .

He was also eighth over 10,000 m at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome.

At the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth in 1962 , he won bronze over six miles. In the marathon , he did not reach the goal.

In 1960 he won bronze at the Cross of Nations .
