Life
Pearl Mary Teresa Craigie was the eldest daughter of businessman John Morgan Richards and his wife Laura Hortense, née Arnold. At the age of 19 she married Reginald Walpole Craigie, with whom she had a son. Because the marriage was unhappy, they divorced in 1895. In 1906 she died suddenly of a heart attack in London while on a trip to Scotland.

In addition to her writing, which included A Bundle of Life , Love and the Soul Hunters and Flute of Pan , Hobbes also wrote three plays.
