John Paxton (screenwriter)
John Paxton (born May 21, 1911 in Kansas City , Missouri , † January 5, 1985 in Santa Monica , California ) was an American screenwriter .
Before Paxton came to Hollywood in the 1940s , he worked as a journalist and publicist .
The comic artist Ed Brubaker (born November 17, 1966) is his nephew.
Awards
Paxton won the Edgar Allan Poe Award in the Best Motion Picture category twice; 1946 for Murder, My Sweet and 1948 for Im Kreuzfeuer ( Crossfire ). In 1948 he was for Oscar in the category Adapted Screenplay Best for the film In the Crossfire ( Crossfire nominated), but was defeated George Seaton , of the price of The Miracle of Manhattan won. In the category Best Screenplay , Paxton was nominated for a Golden Globe in 1972 with his screenplay for the film Grandpa Can't Stop (Kotch) , but Paddy Chayefsky won with his screenplay for the film Hospital .
