John Riley-Schofield

John Riley-Schofield (born July 28, 1954 in Bradford , Yorkshire , Great Britain , † September 12, 2005 in Edwardsburg , Michigan ) was a British opera singer ( baritone ).

Life

Riley-Schofield began taking piano and singing lessons at the age of nine. He has received several awards, for example from the University of Huddersfield , the Royal College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music . He sang at the English National Opera in London and the De Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam . He became known with various works by Bach, Handel, Mozart, Haydn, Elgar, Walton, Saint-Saens and Brahms.

The English baritone was a member of the Gelsenkirchen music theater in the Revier from 1986 to 2001 . Since 2002 he has taught at the University of Notre Dame in the USA. He also conducted the "Notre Dame Opera".

Riley-Schofield was married to the German Britta Sporkmann. He was killed in a car accident.
