John Tait ( John Lindsay "Jack" Tait ; born September 25, 1888 in Toronto , † July 10, 1971 ) was a Canadian middle and long distance runner .

At the Olympic Games in London in 1908 he was fourth over 1500 m . He dropped out over five miles in the run and failed to finish in the marathon .

In 1911 he won the mile run of the Festival of the Empire, a forerunner of the Commonwealth Games .

At the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912, he reached the semi-finals over 800 m . Over 1500 m he failed in the preliminary round, in the marathon he gave up again. In the 4 x 400 meter relay , he was part of the Canadian team, which was eliminated in the preliminary run.

In the mile run he was Canadian champion in 1907 and Canadian runner-up in 1909 behind the American Abel Kiviat .
