John "Johnny" Walker (born January 22, 1964 in Iserlohn ) is a former German ice hockey player who was active in the DEL for the Krefeld Penguins and the Frankfurt Lions , among others .

Career

Walker began his career in 1985 at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology , he for the Hockey Team in the Canadian College Football Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference played. During the NHL Supplemental Draft in 1987 , those responsible voted him tenth. For the 1987/88 season he moved to the American Hockey League to the Utica Devils , the then farm team of the New Jersey Devils. There the striker was able to achieve 22 points scorer in 65 league games in his first season .

During the following season 1988/89 Walker signed a contract with the ECD Sauerland , with whom he played in the major league . In the summer of 1989 he joined the Krefelder EV . Walker then wore the KEV jersey 49 times and scored 107 points. This made him one of the most successful attackers in the second division. After one season he left Krefeld again in 1990 and moved to EV Germering from the Regionalliga . The German was able to convince again and scored 37 times in 14 games.

For the 1991/92 season , Walker returned to Krefeld for KEV, which now played in the Bundesliga . Then he was under contract in Krefeld until 2000 and during this time he developed into the crowd's favorites and top performers of the team. His best season in the KEV jersey was the 1992/93 season when he scored 63 times in 48 games. He played a total of 405 games for KEV in the first Bundesliga and from the 1994/95 season in the German Ice Hockey League. In the summer of 2000, Walker left the club and joined league rivals Frankfurt Lions . Walker is still considered to be one of the most popular players to ever play for the club. He was on the ice for the Lions until 2002 before he moved to EV Duisburg in the 2nd Bundesliga . There he ended his active ice hockey career at the age of 39 after the 2002/03 season .
