Johnny Hiland (* 1975 in Woodland , Maine ) is an American musician. Hiland quickly became known, primarily because of his virtuoso guitar playing . He has a total of 22 instruments. In terms of music style, Hiland moves between blues and country music.

Hiland grew up in the small town of Baileyville , Maine . He was born with the eye disease nystagmus , which makes him nearly blind and which interfered with his normal physical development. He started playing guitar at the age of two, and at the age of seven he had already played in his first television appearance. His career began when Johnny received awards on a talent show in New York ; he was there for ten years. He received strong influence through a concert with Ricky Skaggs initiated by his father . Afterwards, Johnny started fingerpicking - bluegrass on his Fender Telecaster to play. As a teenager he developed his own style, a mixture of rock , blues and swing, in which he mainly applied and developed the technique of chicken picking .

After high school graduation Johnny Hiland started first history teacher to study before coming to 1996 Nashville moved, the center of country music. He got a foothold there very quickly. Allegedly, he stole the show from a local band on the first night. Since then he has performed with the Don Kelley Band . Johnny starred in a number with artists such as Toby Keith , Randy Travis , and Lynn Anderson . He signed a contract with Steve Vai , who has produced two studio albums for him so far, in 2004 and most recently in 2006. He has had his own band "Johnny Hiland Band" since 2004 and travels the world with it. He was able to implement his interest in becoming a teacher by giving guitar lessons to musicians.

He also played on stage with artists such as Sammy Hagar , Ted Nugent , George Clinton and P-Funk , Les Paul , Steve Vai , Joe Bonamassa and many others. One of Hilands sideline activities is illustrating children's books .

In 2011 he presented his third album under his own name All Fired Up .
