Johnny Moore (basketball player)

John Brian Moore (born March 3, 1958 in Altoona , Pennsylvania ) is a retired American basketball player .

The point guard played for most of his career for the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA professional basketball league , with the exception of a single game for the New Jersey Nets . Originally, he was, however, by the Seattle SuperSonics in the NBA Draft in 1979 to 21 out drafted after the University of Texas at Austin had played college basketball.

He had to end his professional career relatively early because he fell ill with the fungal infection coccidioidomycosis . After retiring from active sport, Moore's jersey number (00) was retired by the Spurs . H. this number is no longer given to other players.

Even today, Johnny Moore ranks 17th in the NBA's all-time assists list (7.4 assists per game). In the ranks of the San Antonio Spurs only Avery Johnson has achieved more assists than Moore. Johnny had 3865 assists, while Johnson had 4474 assists.
