Career

The club is known for only allowing Basques to appear; This transfer policy is unusual for today's world. He made his debut in professional football on December 16, 2009, when he was called up in the starting lineup in the 3-0 defeat in the last group game of the Europa League , against Werder Bremen , but he did not play a game in the Primera División . The following season he officially moved to the professional squad. On August 28, 2011 Aurtenetxe made his points game debut when he was in the starting eleven on matchday one, in Bilbao's 1-0 win against Hercules Alicante .

By the end of the season Aurtenetxe played nine more times. Here he also managed an assist; Bilbao finished sixth in the league table, which allowed them to qualify for the Europa League. In the following season Aurtenetxe had the breakthrough when he played 23 times over 90 minutes in 31 games. He also managed his first goal in professional football; on November 12, 2011, Aurtenetxe marked the goal of the 1: 0 in Bilbao's 1-1 draw on matchday 16 against Racing Santander .

He scored his first European goal on December 14, 2011, when he marked Bilbao 1-0 in the 4-2 defeat of Bilbao in the last group game of the Europa League, against Paris Saint-Germain . The defeat did nothing to change Bilbao's progress. In the course of the competition Lokomotiv Moscow , Manchester United and FC Schalke 04 could be eliminated. In the semifinals they met Sporting Lisbon . Aurtenetxe scored the 1-0 for the Basques in the first leg. However, Bilbao lost 2-1. Bilbao won the second leg 3-1. So they were in the final. There they were defeated by league rivals Atlético Madrid 3-0.

For the 2015/16 season Aurtenetxe was loaned to CD Tenerife .

For the 2016/17 season he switched to CD Mirandés . After the team was relegated as bottom of the table, he first moved to his youth club SD Amorebieta. After playing two games, Aurtenetxe signed a contract with the Scottish club FC Dundee in August 2017 .
