Jon Johnson

Jon Johnson (born October 16, 1954 in Sheridan , Wyoming ) is an American sound engineer .

Life

Johnson, who works in the field of sound engineering in addition to sound editing also on sound design and sound effects , began his career in television in the early 1980s, where he worked on various cartoon series such as The Smurfs and Scooby Doo . Later he was also involved in documentaries and television films. From the beginning of the 1990s, his focus of work shifted to film, although he continued to work occasionally for television, including the science fiction series Babylon 5 . For his work in television he was nominated four times for the Primetime Emmy between 1987 and 2008 , in 1987 he won the award for the television film Cause of Death - Agent Orange . Johnson appeared in numerous Hollywood - blockbusters with, among others, the science fiction movies Star Trek: Generations , Stargate and Independence Day . In 2001 he won the Oscar in the category Best Sound Editing for U-571 .
