Jon Per Nygård (born May 28, 1967 ) is a former Norwegian biathlete .

Jon Per Nygård competed in biathlon World Cup races from the early 1990s to 1995 . After that he was often used in the Biathlon European Cup . At the 1997 Summer Biathlon World Championships in Krakow , he won the first relay race with Egil Gjelland , Dag Bjørndalen and Ole Einar Bjørndalen . He also took part in the Summer World Championships in 1998 and was 13th in the sprint and 25th in the pursuit. In the 1999/2000 season , Nygård took second places in Alt St. Johann in a sprint and a pursuit race behind Hans Achorner . The most successful season of the Norwegian was the 2002/03 season . At the start of the season in Ål , he won the individual. Although there were no further podium finishes, at the end of the season he finished third in the overall standings behind the Austrians Hans-Peter Foidl and Fritz Pinter . At the Norwegian Championships in 1997 in Snåsa and 1999 in Tana behind Jon Åge Tyldum and Dag Bjørndalen the silver medals in the individual.
