Jon Piso

Jon Piso (* 1926 in Brașov ) is a Romanian opera singer ( tenor ).

Piso studied at the Music Academy in Cluj . His professor was the baritone and teacher Gogu Simionescu. Jon Piso was soloist at the Romanian Opera in Cluj (1949–1960), the Opera Națională in Bucharest (1964–1968) and the Metropolitan Opera in New York (1965–1966). He also celebrated successes on the opera stages of: Paris ( Opera Garnier ), Liège, Dublin, Petersburg, Moscow, Kiev, Odessa, Tbilisi, Novosibirsk, Bratislava, Ankara, Varna, Posen, Bonn, Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne, Oldenburg , Stuttgart, Munich, Zurich, Tehran, A Coruña and Oslo.

The following games received a lot of attention:

From 1985 to 1988 Jon Piso was director of the State Theater in Oldenburg. From 1990 to 1992 he was the director of the Cluj Opera House.
