Jonas - Forget me not (original title Jonas ) is a French television film by the director Christophe Charrier . It was first broadcast on Arte in France and Germany .

action

Jonas Casseti, in his early 30s, lives in Toulon in the south of France . First the young man has to go to the police station after he has once again rioted in the gay club Boys Paradise, then the next morning he is thrown out of the apartment by his friend Sam because he has cheated on him far too often. For his sex dates, Jonas has acquired several Grindr profiles. He works in the hospital, and Jonas is very popular with patients and their families. In his spare time he watches a young, blond man on the beach. Although they have never spoken to each other, he knows his name and also watches what Léonard does and posts on Facebook . After Jonas doesn't know where to stay, he takes a room in the hotel where the young man works for one night. After his service is over, he goes around the houses with him. The next morning he wakes up at Léo's home, who has taken the completely drunk Jonas with him. Here Jonas reveals himself to Léo's mother as a former classmate of her eldest son.

Eighteen years earlier, in 1997, on the first day of school in the 9th grade, Nathan Dewatter, a little rebel with an imposing scar on his face, came into his class and sat down next to Jonas in class. Nathan didn't always tell him the truth about his past, such as his last school and the reason for his scar, but he wasn't angry if he caught him telling little lies about his life. Even when he kissed him without being asked, that was fine with him. Jonas thought the smoking Nathan was cool, who also did some other things that are not allowed. Even when there was hostility at school, Nathan knew exactly how to repay common classmates.

After Jonas went to the cinema with Nathan, where he gave him his Game Boy , which he still has with him as an adult, they wanted to go to the gay bar Boys Paradise, which they were not allowed into as minors. A man in front of the bar wanted to drive them to another club that they are supposed to be allowed in. When the man tried to touch Nathan in the car, he struggled and the stranger knocked him unconscious, Jonas managed to escape, but the stranger drove away with Nathan. That night, Nathan's brother Léonard was also born.

Jonas didn't want to tell anyone the whole truth when he was 15 because he was ashamed that he had let Nathan down that night. But now he tells the mother what really happened back then. She believes that Nathan is still alive. Léonard, however, assumes that his brother is dead. Jonas and Léonard visit Magic World together, where Nathan got the scar in an accident as a child.
